| 7 1/2 km out from Picton along the Queen Charlotte Drive Floating jetty A mooring (2 tonne) will take a 8m vessel, plus a smaller mooring. One or the other only though Small dinghy capable of taking a small 2-5hp outboard and 3 people maximum. Life jackets too. Space to park a trailer. A four wheel drive vehicle is best as the driveway down can be a bit rutted at times. A 30m walk (approx) from driveway access to house. Great spot for small weddings, though there is a venue fee for those wishing to hold their wedding there |

Thank you for all your help in arranging our last minute
booking for Te Ranui this week. We had an absolutely
fantastic time, the place is very special indeed.
Everything was perfect, the house, location and the
weather (both misty and sunny). Rory even had a close
encounter with a penguin one night when he went
outside to get more firewood, and there one was
waddling away alarmed by the sudden presence of this
large man thing. We did pop down to the beach to
search the colony out but they made such a rucus we
thought it best to leave them in peace. We had a very
special encounter on our last day.

We rowed out into the Sound to watch a couple of seals playing and eating mussels off the rocks close by the house and as we were
sitting there watching these wonderful and inquisitive characters,a large pod of dolphins came right past our boat! There was at least
30 of them, as well as a number of seals, all jumping and frolicking about. We guessed that they were herding a school of fish up the
Sound (given the presence of the gulls overhead). They were so close we could have touched them but decided it was best to leave
them to their business. This was a truly remarkable and special experience that happens rarely in one's life and it really topped off a
very wonderful holiday for us.The Sounds are one of the most beautiful places we have ever seen. We will certainly be back and will
be telling all of our friends about this magical place.

A beautiful, well appointed house in an amazing location with resident Weka, dolphins in the Tory Channel and scallop diving of the jetty, it was the perfect week!
